Form + Field is a San Francisco-based interior design studio that champions joy and well-being through the creation of empathetic, artfully integrated spaces. Rooted in a deep appreciation for architecture, art, and eclectic modernism, the firm approaches each project as a true collaboration—thoughtfully blending creativity with purpose.
Form + Field is a San Francisco-based interior design firm celebrated for its bold, art-driven approach to mid-century modern interiors. Founded and led by Christine Lin—a multidisciplinary designer with degrees in architecture, engineering, and business from MIT and UC Berkeley—the firm brings both creative vision and technical expertise to every project.
Known for creating timeless, highly curated spaces, Form + Field blends architectural integrity, artistic expression, and functional beauty. From restoring iconic Eichler homes to designing contemporary spaces with a mid-century influence, the studio’s work is grounded in thoughtful design and elevated execution. With projects spanning both coasts, Form + Field has earned a reputation as one of San Francisco’s leading interior design firms, recognized for its professionalism, creativity, and collaborative spirit.
A Design Philosophy Rooted in Art, Architecture, and Intentional Living
At Form + Field, design begins with architecture. The firm believes that exceptional interiors are never simply layered on—they’re built from a foundation of spatial integrity, material awareness, and thoughtful collaboration. By working closely with architects and builders, Form + Field ensures that each interior complements and enhances the architectural vision, a particularly vital approach when honoring the clean lines and thoughtful proportions of mid-century modern homes.
Founder and Principal Christine Lin brings a rare blend of creative intuition and technical expertise to her work. With degrees in architecture and mechanical engineering from MIT and an MBA from UC Berkeley, Christine is as fluent in form and structure as she is in project management and execution. Her background in furniture design, product design, and art history—combined with years in both corporate and startup tech environments—allows her to move fluidly between vision and detail, aesthetics and logistics.
Christine’s passion for the arts is more than professional—it’s personal. With global travels to nearly 40 countries in pursuit of design inspiration, her approach is shaped by a well-honed eye and a deep appreciation for craft, context, and culture. Her interiors reflect a dialogue between architecture and art, where curated pieces aren’t afterthoughts but essential components of spatial storytelling.
Christine lives in San Francisco’s Potrero Hill neighborhood with her husband, Ankur; their son, Apollo; and their cavapoo, Zoe. When she’s not immersed in design, she’s exploring gluten-free culinary finds, tackling the Megaformer, or getting lost in sci-fi, fantasy, and psychology reads. Christine also serves on the Board of Directors for Access Institute, a nonprofit that provides essential mental health services to underserved communities in San Francisco.
